I Hate Luv Storys Movie Review

July 1, 2010 |13:33 | Bollywood movie   By : Team X

I Hate Luv Storys Movie Review.Classic Bollywood love stories have created clichés that we have come to adore. Now when any star runs through a meadow of yellow sunflowers, you immediately think Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.

And of course, you can't imagine any snowy Swiss mountain without a chiffon sari-cladded actress and turtle-necked sweater-on-shoulders Shah Rukh Khan in his signature arms-wide-open pose.

Raavan Movie Review

June 23, 2010 |13:09 | Bollywood movie   By : Team X

The Mani Ratnam directed movie “Raavan” has the impressive star cast of Aishwariya Bachchan and Abhisek Bachchan. The bilingual movie is shot in both Hindi and Tamil. It is the most hyped movie of 2010. The film got rave reviews in the Los Angeles Times and the New York Times. However, the box office opening was disappointing.

Raavan Movie Review

The movie is a modern day take on the Hindu epic Ramayana by the ace director Mani Ratnam. The three characters of the epic, Ram, Sita and Raavan are portrayed in the movie with a twist. Abhisek Bachchan plays the role of Raavan, Aishwarya is glamorous in portraying Sita and the role of Ram is carried out by Dev in the movie. However, unlike the epic, all the three characters have grey shades in the movie. The music composed by A R Rahman and Gulzar are a delight to the ears.

Raajneeti Movie Review

June 8, 2010 |13:29 | Bollywood movie   By : Team X

Raajneeti Movie ReviewRespite and relief. This is exactly how I felt walking out of the cinema after watching Prakash Jha's Raajneeti. Thanks to the filmmaker, we have officially been bestowed with 2010's best film thus far.

Praise the Bollywood God; he has finally been kind on us. My expectations of the director were scorching high considering the film has a boastful cast of some of the best in the industry:

Nana Patekar, Ajay Devgn, Manoj Vajpayee and Naseeruddin Shah. And then there are other actors who have surprised us in the recent past including Arjun Rampal, Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif.

'Kites' takes Bollywood to the West - Movie Review

May 26, 2010 |11:38 | Bollywood movie | Movie Previews  By : Team X

'Kites' takes Bollywood to the West - Movie ReviewKites was specifically made to appeal to Western sensibilities it’s not the first Bollywood film to try to crossover, but it is the first to succeed at it, and it does so while remaining true to the essence of Hindi cinema. Kites looks like an American film, but it feels like an Indian one.

It’s not the best Bollywood movie—not by a long shot—but by stripping itself of the typical trappings of Hindi films (and making itself stylistically familiar to Westerners), it reveals the heart of Bollywood—a beating, bleeding operatic heart. Hindi cinema is ultimately not about language or culture or musical numbers; it’s about exalted melodrama that draws you in despite yourself and affects you with life’s corniness and agony.

The story is set in Las Vegas; the actors speak a combination of Hindi, English, and Spanish; there is only one dance scene; and the plot follows a single sequence of events—all of which help make the film accessible to non-Indian audiences. Director Anurag Basu was the perfect choice for this project as his style naturally lends itself to the objective. Had his previous film, Life in a…Metro (2007), been marketed abroad as aggressively as Kites has been, it would have garnered the same critical praise in the U.S that his latest film has. Cinematographer Ayananka Bose produces sharp, gorgeous shots of the glitz of Las Vegas, the desolation of the desert, and the beauty of the leads, Indian superstar Hrithik Roshan and Mexican actress Barbara Mori.

Indian hunk sizzles in Bollywood movie Kites

May 24, 2010 |11:15 | Bollywood movie   By : Team X

Filmmaker Anurag Basu has struck an outlandish tone with "Kites" with his over-the-moon, operatic approach that fits the film just right. "Kites" cracked the top 10 at the weekend box office after earning about $1 million from more than 200 screens (the widest release of any Hindi film to date).

A 130-minute Hindi-language cut of the film was screened for critics. A 90-minute "international" English version, edited by Brett Ratner, sounds promising.

Housefull Movie Review

May 3, 2010 |13:15 | Bollywood movie   By : Team X

The promos were smartly cut, which raised the bar for Sajid Khan's next after HEY BABBY. Sadly, the final product does not match up to.

The build-up created by the promos. But what Sajid has done with the slick promos is make sure that at least the first week is housefull.

The story is as bland as dal without a tadka. It's about a loser who is a panwati. Aarush (Akshay Kumar) is that badnaseeb.

Whose very presence makes things go haywire for those around him. When he finally marries a girl, he thinks his run of bad luck will end. In fact, it begins with renewed vigour.

As she leaves him for an Italian and off goes Aarush into the deep seas of Italy where he is saved by another beauty.

Has he found his love? Has his streak of bad luck ended? It is this thin premise that Sajid hangs his entire comedy on.

Phoonk 2 Movie Review

April 16, 2010 |12:47 | Bollywood movie   By : Team X

Phoonk 2 Movie ReviewPhoonk’, named ‘Phoonk 2‘ is getting released today in India. The film has been directed by debutante Milind Gadagkar and the lead actors of ‘Phoonk’ are also in the cast of the sequel. It picks up from where the first movie ended. This movie shows the ghost of Ashwini Kalsekar returning from dead to take vengeance on the family of Sudeep.

This takes place after his family moves to a new location. The problem starts when the kids come across a doll in the adjacent woods. The ghosts start haunting the family once again. The early reviews of the movie are pretty good.

It is difficult to say how ‘Phoonk 2? will fare at the box office despite the pre-publicity hype and positive reviews by some critics. The film lacks any established stars and with the exception of Phoonk last year, almost no movie produced or directed by Ram Gopal Verma has done well at the box office in the last few years.

The highlight of ‘Phoonk 2? is the child artist Ahsaas Channa who was seen portraying the role of a male child in Kabhie Alvida Na Kehna few years earlier. According to the critics, she has done justice to her role and has given a terrific performance.

Prince Movie Review

April 12, 2010 |12:22 | Bollywood movie   By : Team X

PRINCE is loud (I'm not talking only about the music here), and over-the-top. It has a very thin plot, which is stretched beyond its capacity to endure and snaps somewhere midway.

You are then subjected to bike chases, gunfights and helicopters used as props for the daredevil PRINCE (Vivek Oberoi), who for most part of the film does not know whether he is coming or going.

Same with the audience. I mean they too do not know whether PRINCE is coming or going. In that sense, debutant director Kookie Gulati has done well to keep the audience involved.

But after a point you don't really care whether PRINCE is a sophisticated robber or just helping the CBI nab two international crooks.

At one point, the plot gets extremely hilarious as three Maya's erupt on screen in search of a coin, one after the other, one of who is Prince's girlfriend. And since Prince has memory of just a day, he knows no better.
