“Transformers” surprised media analysts with a $201.2 million performance in its first four days, and today is reported to have achieved the second-best five-day opening total in Hollywood history.
The Paramount/Dreamworks collaboration opened Wednesday and sold $112 million on the traditional three-day weekend, Hollywood.com estimated.
“The Proposal” entered its second weekend with $69 million banked in 10 days, and the Disney movie is estimated to deal $18.5 million this weekend. In third place this weekend is “The Hangover,” a Warner Brops movie that is on track to sell $17.2 million on its third weekend of release. The breakout comedy has a $183.2 million gate in four weeks.
And the Disney/Pixar blockbuster “Up” passed “Star Trek” and crossed the quarter-billion dollar mark, with a $13 million weekend. “Up’s” box office to day stands at $250.2 million.

- “Year One,” Sony/Columbia, $5.8 million this weekend, $32.3 million over two weeks;
- “Taking of Pelham 1 2 3,” Sony/Columbia, $5.4 million this weekend, $43.4 million over three weeks;
- “Star Trek,” Paramount, $3.6 million this weekend, $246.2 million over eight weeks;
- “Night At The Museum: Battle Of The Smithsonian,” Fox, $3.5 million this weekend, $163.3 million over six weeks; and
- “Away We Go,”Focus, $1.7 million this weekend, $4 million over four weeks.
